Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the United States. Her work has been recognized for film and television since the late 1980s she's been awarded numerous awards like two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett originates from New York New York. She was born in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett as well as her younger sister at the age of five old, made the move away from the city of their birth to St. Petersburg to live with their mother, who was the divorced father. Bassett was in high school when she watched James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck play Of Mice and Men and realized that her desire of being an actor had been realized. Yale University New Haven Connecticut gave her a bachelor's degree (1980) with a focus on African American study, and an advanced degree (1983) in the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale she met Courtney B. Vance a actress who was a friend of hers. They were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree on African American studies, in the year 1980.
